How I plan to get My WLE
The type of internship I have in mind was the specific places that I have not yet contacted. I contacted Horatios, a Restaurant to see if they would have an unpaid intern but the manager said it is not possible. I still nedd to contact Bud Field Aviation Center on Hesperian and Otis Sunkmeyer Cookies. What I do need to have is a confident character be responsible, understanding and to have a lot of patience.

California Airways, Day 2 12-10-10
So my internship is not any of the ones above but it is like Bud Field Aviation. It is right next to that company and it is called California Airways. A Flight School, the program they have their is amazing. I met a student named Ennis, he comes from Ghana, Africa hoping to learn how to fly and make progress in America. My mentor is the Manager, Keith Amaro. One of the first things I did that day was clean the bottom of one of their training planes. It takes about three hours, because I had to spray "orange" on the wings, hull, and belly of the plane to get the residue and black smoke from the engines. After I finished I headed down to Suburban, a maintenance shed for the airplanes in the airfield, and I had to clean a plane that an owner neglected, so I had a roller bed to get under the plane and the stains were ridiculously hard to get off. Finally I headed back to California Airways office to find some Thai food waiting for me. I thanked Ben, the one who bought it. I also watched learning how to fly video's, the 12 different gauge meters on a plane and some post and pre-flight checks. And that was the end of my day.

California Airways, Day 3 12-17-10
Today was a diverse day in work. I arrived at my internship and no more than ten minutes Later I was headed downstairs across the airport and into Suburban aircraft maintenance shop. I started off by cleaning the belly and hull of a mail carrier plane. using orange it took about two hours to sufficiently clean the belly and hull. and another hour to start cleaning the underside of the wings, to get the smoke off of the aileron and mid-wing. I finished one wing, and started on the other but I only got through half of the second one because Keith took me back to the office to set up a birthday party that Susan Amaro wanted help with that was going to happen the next day. We set up the happy birthday signs in the window of the party room and set the plates. Then I printed out programs for the party and junior pilot handbooks for the kids. I folded and stapled each one and set them at the front desk for tomorrow. Finally I had a chicken bacon sandwich that Keith graciously gave me, and I left.
Looking at other people's blogs
California Airways, 1-21-11
So I looked at other people's blogs but I have only seen people learn about using leadership skills such as critical thinking and collaborating productively. I believe that I am learning more than other people because I am talking to people in the business world and I am learning the basic controls and intermediate controls of a plane. Also learning about the vitals of the plane like the Ailerons, elevators, fuel gauges, and rudder trimming, so much so that I am teaching other students while they are training on the simulator. I seen Cipi's blogs and she seems to be very thorough with her blogs. If I am more thorough it gives anyone a detailed explanation of what exactly happened which is good for referencing when needed. My WLE has not got any less interesting since the day I started. Today I Cleaned and waxed two planes. Starting with washing the hull, belly then waxed them. Then I washed the two wings bottom and top with a ladder and finally wax. It takes me three and a half hours for each plane because a plane with smog trails and the hull and dirt creates drag in the air. Cleaning a plane is very imnportant because I want that plane to be in pristine condition. I want that coat of wax that I put on shines in the air when it flies so I can say, yes, I cleaned that plane I do a job like noone else. I am lucky I even have this kind of internship, so I must show that I want this and am highly grateful. After all of the cleaning Keith Amaro my mentor showed up and took me and Jason onto a plane and he let me drive. Before we took off we had to contact the control tower. I pressed the button and said 296 Mike Echo Hayward ground Taxi to East T's. Which says that I am moving toward the runway. Keith let me take off once we got confirmation from the control tower and It was awesome. He wanted to take us on a bay tour. I flew that plane for about fourty minutes that day. I started at Hayward with Keith in the passenger seat and Jason in the back taking pictures of the city below. I flew all the way to oakland and across the water to San Francisco. It was near sunset so it gave a great view at 1400 hundred feet. We flew over San francisco and we were able to open the window and experience wind while traveling at 130mph. we stook our phones out the window at took pictures of the bay. After we soared above san francisco we headed I took pictures of the golden gate, Alcatraz and the city. We then headed back and I had to keep a constant elevation of 1300 feet when we were headed back. By the time we reached Hayward again it was dark and I had to land it. He said he wasn't going to do anything and let me land it so I was a little on the erratic and tense side and on top of that our strobe and landing lights weren't working. But through god's hand and luck I landed. I don't think I remember anything else that night besides crawling into bed safely.
California Airways 1-22-11
Today was a tiring day because of yestersay's work. I cleaned one more plane and the bellies of two other planes. I got there this morning and had a donut, and Keith drove me and Jason to the airfield to the wash ramp to clean a plane. The planes are relatively easy to clean because The work I do there is enjoyable, and the help of the an industrial cleaner called orange. This cleaner is to be used with caution because Keith told us If you get sprayed in the eye, then, may god help you. Other than that It's been worthwhile and great while cleaning on the wash ramp.when waxing the wings and hull, the buffers that I have to hold up to wax can get reallly tiring. So I wax for ten seconds then lower it becasue it hurts my shoulders. But it isn't an obstacle that restrains me from doing a good job. I was so proud of my work that i took a picture of the waxed wing because you can see the reflection off of it like a mirror. I have been able to converse with pilot's about their planes and If they needed any cleaning. Don't get me wrong I charge a reasonable amount for a good job. I see people from Japan, Korea and other places that come to that airport it's pretty amazing. I've seen biplanes to gliders and even P-51's which are rare.
